Seeing Isn’t Believing: Deepfakes Without the Panic

Deepfakes are now cheap, fast, and good enough to fool busy humans. The new rule is simple: seeing isn’t believing until verified. This session is an awareness primer: no scare tactics, no silver bullets. We’ll discuss how modern fakes are made, where they commonly hit (voice fraud, PR crises, fake “leaks,” election noise), and how to spot the tells that still matter. More importantly, we’ll replace panic with a calm verification habit: check the source, corroborate via a second channel, and avoid accidental amplification.

AI/ML

We’ll also clarify what the EU AI Act and platform policies actually change (disclosure, labeling, provenance) and what they don’t. Last but not least, we'll look at tech solutions and defenses that move risk: provenance at capture (C2PA/cryptographic signing), authentication-first pipelines, verified-callback and payment-halt controls, takedown playbooks, and fast human triage. You’ll leave with a simple checklist and a set of rules to keep you and your team from getting "played".
